HSI Dips 32 pts; TENCENT, LINK REIT Seek for Peak


The United Kingdom general election ended with a hung parliament, making the Brexit progress and the UK’s political landscape uncertain. After opening up 27 pts, Hang Seng Index headed south, dragged by the lower-than-expected China’s PPI in May. The benchmark index closed the day down 32 pts or 0.1% at 26,030. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index shed 57 pts or 0.5% to 10,592. Market turnover amounted to $116.955 billion.


TENCENT (00700.HK)  hit new high again, once peaking at $283.4. It surged 1.5% at close. LINK REIT (00823.HK)  continue to fare well after results announcement, rising 1% today; it once hit record high $63.3. AIA (01299.HK)  added 0.9% to $56.3. On the other hand, CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  and CHINA UNICOM (00762.HK)  fell 1.3% and 1.2%.
Dragged by falling GBP, several shares with business in the UK subdued. PRU (02378.HK)  faded 1.4%. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  dropped 0.6%. POWER ASSETS (00006.HK) , CKH HOLDINGS (00001.HK)  and CKI HOLDINGS (01038.HK)  lost 1.1%, 1.3% and 2.1%, but STANCHART (02888.HK)  managed to swing up 0.2% at close. Hong Kong banks fared well. BANK OF E ASIA (00023.HK)  gained 2.4%. BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK)  and HANG SENG BANK (00011.HK)  added 0.9% and 0.7%.


PRC financials broadly softened.ABC (01288.HK)  and ICBC (01398.HK)  slid 1.4% and 1.5%. CPIC (02601.HK)  sank 1.1%. CCB (00939.HK)  shed 0.6%. BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK)  and NCI (01336.HK)  dropped 0.3% and 0.2%. CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  and PING AN (02318.HK)  added 0.2% and 0.1%.
